Former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, a nationalist who served his nation for long was shot and killed on Friday (8 July 2022) at a campaign rally. Abe was shot at twice while he was giving speech on a street in the city of Nara on 8 July 2022, Friday morning. This accident shocked many of Japanese because Japan is one of the most safest nation in the world and has some of the strictest gun control laws. Abe suffered two bullet at his neck and lost lots of blood and also damage to his heart. Doctor said no vital sign were detected by the former Prime Minister was transferred for treatment. More than 100 unit of blood is given to Shinzo over four hours. He was pronounced as death at 5:03 pm.
Security tackled the suspected gunman immediately at the spot and 41 year old gunman is now in police custody. The suspected shooter named Tetsuya Yamagami said to officers that he had a grudge against a specific organization.
“It is barbaric and malicious and it can not be tolerated,” current japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida told to the media.
Tetsuya fired two shots at Shinzo Abe when he was giving the political speech in the city of Nara. The first shot missed, but the second one directly hit Abe’s chest and neck. He was immediately rushed to the hospital but the authority of Nara Medical University hospital said that the bullet penetrate the Abe’s heart. Doctors treated him for more than four hours and tried to stop the bleeding and gave him blood. However, Abe succumbed to his injuries around 5:05 pm.
According to NHK report, Tetsuya said,” I was dissatisfied with former prime minister Abe and aimed to kill him. It is not a grudge against the former Prime Minister’s political beliefs.”
Following his death, world leader extended their condolences to the Japanese.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Rahul Gandhi, union minister of foreign affairs and defense also extended their condolences.
